Rodrigo Guichón, Product Manager of _bfirst

We started a new section in our blog called BytemasterCulture. In it we will make a little more known to the team of bytemaster who we are, what our responsibilities are and how we got to the company. We started with Rodrigo Guichón.

Rodrigo Guichón has a degree in business sciences from EUNCET, specializing in integrated logistics management and supply chain management. He has extensive experience in the world of Transportation, Customs, Logistics and Freight Forwarders. Currently, he is Product Manager of the software _b first. He also teaches at the Tecnocampus in Mataró (Pompeu Fabra University) where he teaches logistics and maritime business.

What is your main role in the company?

I'm responsible for the area _b first at the technical level. My responsibility is to supervise the modifications that are included in our software, as well as the projects related to _b firstand their solutions. As a good coordinator, I have to prioritize the effectiveness of the technicians and minimize delivery times, which is part of our daily life. On occasion and in large accounts, I actively participate in the project.

The idea is that the customers are satisfied and the software is competitive. In short, to help it to _b firstbe a diamond that shines brighter every day.

How does your story begin inbytemaster?

My first job was in a family business in the IT sector where a management software called Explot was installed, created by us, where (at that time) our target was small and medium sized companies. I spent two years working there, helping and contributing with my desire to learn and improve. All this helped me get started in the sector.

At that time I was studying Business while working in the family business. In my second year of career, he offered bytemasterme the opportunity to start a professional career with them.

In 18 years, what's been the best time for you?

I can't tell you one...

There are many, the vast majority good. Every stage has had its good moments.

In my beginnings it was important that I was valued as a professional assigning me the first client shortly after entering. Later on, I saw how it was progressing rapidly, being able to collaborate in an important way in big projects at that time.

Finally, the move to responsible _b firstwas very gratifying on a professional and personal level.

As I say, almost 18 years is too many to keep for one moment.

It occurs to me that if I have been here so long it is because I feel good in this company, because Salva and Xavi (Salvador Monill and Xavier Camps, founding partners of bytemaster) have always been very close and have bet on us.

What do you enjoy most about your work?

Each stage really has its moment and its joys. If we count my last stage, we would talk about pre-sales meetings and customer management.

Pre-sales is a task I really enjoy at work. Being part of a great team creating an excellent software solution, makes the job of a "pre-sale" easy. In addition, experience over the years makes it rewarding to present, always doing so with confidence and naturalness. Surely all of this is the secret of our success.

Project management, evaluating improvements to our solution and dealing with customers on a daily basis is another part I enjoy.

Who has been your greatest inspiration in your professional life?

There hasn't been a single person.

Evidently, during all these years with whom I have worked, traveled, etc. has been with Salva (Salvador Monill responsible for technicalbytemaster), and I can not deny that part of my professional rigor is thanks to him. But on a small scale and going into a little more detail, every stage in this company has had its inspiration.

In my early years I bytemaster worked alongside a person who helped me a lot to grow as a professional. He is Josep Estallo, a person who has not worked with us for years, but with whom I still have a relationship.

Already in the following stages, as soon as I have taken on more responsibility, perhaps I have already been in much more contact with Salva and Xavi. But I don't want to forget the excellent team of people that I formbytemaster, with whom I collaborate day by day to assume the great challenges that we set ourselves.

How do you see the logistics sector in 5 years?

I see him well, strong and with much level and exigency. You have to be more competitive and more professional each time. And in the case ofbytemaster, I think our success will depend on ourselves.

What advice would you give to someone who's starting to work in this sector.

That you've made the right choice.

It is a growing sector that has a lot of breadth at the level of opportunities. It is surely one of the best sectors in this country, due to its geographical location. In Spain logistics is one of the most important, probably as much or more than tourism.
